When should I get First Service for my Harley? What is involved?

Harley-Davidson mechanics recommend First Service for your new bike at 1,000 miles (and then about every 5,000 after that). Here's a basic breakdown of what's involved. Note: depending on your ride some of the following may not be performed. Also, depending on model there could be other services performed not listed below:

• Oil change
• Change primary and transmission fluids
• Adjust the clutch, primary chain, cables, and belt
• Lube the clutch and throttle cables
• Clean or replace air filter
• Check the brake pads and system for proper operation
• Check all electrical systems and components for proper operation
• Check to ensure battery health and fasteners torqued
• Check and clean spark plugs
• Check and adjust tire pressure
• And more depending on the model of bike (air suspension, spokes, radio updates, etc)

What if I just need a belt adjusted, or an oil change?

When do my tires need to be replaced?

• You are near the tread wear limit of your tires.
• The interior chamber of your tire is obviously damaged.
• Your tire shows an uneven pattern of wear.
• Oils or corrosive substances have damaged your tires.
• Your tires are more than five years old.

I want to winterize my bike. What should I do?

• Add fuel stabilizer. Contact us if you have any questions, need advice, or to just let us do it ourselves!
• Keep your battery on a charger like the Battery Tender Jr. Be sure to check on it every couple weeks.
